The Age of Apologies

Mystery Question: If you say something and Charlie Rangel isn't offended by it, did you really say anything?

The 11th Commandment [offensive]: "Thou shalt not offend."

Everyone owes everyone else an apology.

You can be offended on behalf of someone else who is not offended.

Everything offends Someone.

Those who are offended by harmless things offend me.

Here's $700,000

What self-respecting "special" prosecutor would take 2 years and spend $700,000.00 and not come up with at least one high profile indictment? (Answer: none)

Well... high profile might be a little stretch for Scooter; but then again, the indictment is a little bit of a stretch for Fitzgerald.

Be warned. If you are accused of something that isn't a crime, and you didn't do it anyway, be careful how you explain what you didn't do...

"You stand accused of the murder of Ms. X, the crown princess of America."

"But Ms. X is sitting right here. She's not murdered at all; and she is not the crown princess."

"OK. Next question. Where were you at 6 pm on April 6, 1957?"

"April 6. 6:00 PM. Hmm. I think I was eating dinner at my home."

"And what were you eating?"

"Oh boy. Um. I believe that we were eating chili."

"And nothing else?"

"A few crackers."

"Three crackers?"

"Three or four."

"Well it says here in your daily log that your dinner was actually scheduled for 6 FIFTEEN! And it says you had chili and a COUPLE crackers. Now which was it... a Few or a Couple?"

"Um. I guess it was a couple. I may have forgotten some of the details. I eat three times a day; and it was 48 years ago."

"So it was a COUPLE of crackers; not a FEW as you stated earlier."

"Apparently so. May I ask a question."

"I suppose."

"Can you tell me, please, why I am being investigated."

"You are being investigated because someone murdered this woman, and someone else said it might have been you who did it."

"May I ask who said this?"

"I can onlyl tell you that it was either a journalist or a partisan political hack who hates George Bush and all Republicans. I can't be any more specific, but in either case the person is a proven liar.

"But, respectfully, the woman is sitting right here. There was no murder. She's not a Princess. And how can you have an investigation when no crime was even committed?"

"I can have an investigation of anything I want, at any time I want to have it. And I can run that investigation because I am completely unbiased - apolitical they call me. And besides, the Democrats wanted it."

"But there was no crime to investigate."

"That is no longer the point. And that didn't stop me from finding something did it? You LIED to the grand jury. I'm afraid I'm going to have to indict you."

"I understand completely."

Neo-con Puppetmasters

This Miers thing has been a joke from the get go. I have no opinion one way or the other on Harriet Miers. Was it the best choice Bush could have made? Maybe not. Maybe also Miers was the only one who would accept the nomination. Who would?

Why would anyone voluntarily put themselves into the grinder that is now the so called "confirmation" process. What it has become is a personal destruction exercise... usually by the liberals. That was to be expected.

What wasn't to be expected - and what shouldn't have happened - is the ruthless attack on Miers by Bush's "friends". William Crystal started cutting Miers and Bush before the announcement of her nomination was done. George Will became insanely obsessed with destroying the Miers bid. Those two - and their buddies - dropped W like a hot potato the minute he didn't do what they expected... and everyone else piled on, or at best, stood silent.

They damaged the Republican party - who can argue now that the neo-cons are not in control?

They damaged the President - who now appears to be completely controlled by those same neo-cons, at least when Carl Rove isn't there to buffer him.

They proved that elitism is alive and well.

They destroyed their argument that there should be no "litmus test" by imposing one of their own.

They mooted the "Ginsberg Rule".

They destroyed the "fair hearing" argument.

They damaged what would have clearly been a winning argument in the public sector, over filibusters... and virtually guaranteed that the next nominee will create a months long stalemate of hearings and investigations.

This will virtually assure that this Do-Nothing Congress will do even less in this session and maybe the next.

George Will and his gang of thugs are no different than George Soros and his... they are playing the same game, and now the secret is out. They just don't do it as well... and they will lose.

The damage is done, and this despicable behavior by his own "base" should not go unrewarded by Bush. He now has no one to answer to but the American People. Same with the spineless Republican party now that they have shown their true colors.

Who said: "Throw the bums out!"? Good idea.

We the Refugees of New Orleans

We the refugees of the City of New Orleans,

having built our city in the most vulnerable of locations; and, having improperly maintained what little protection was provided to us; and, having known for years that a disaster, such as the recent Hurricane Katrina event would occur, made no arrangements for our own safety, hereby resolve nonetheless to:

1.

Hold the Federal Government responsible for any and all of the following:

For the failure, on our own individual parts, to evacuate as we had been told to do.

For the failure of our own state and local officials to adequately prepare for or warn us of the impending catastrophic event.

For the failure of our own state and local officials to respond in any effective way to the disaster.

For the failure of our own state and local officials to request federal assistance before complaining that it had not arrived.

For the looting that many of our citizens began on the very first day of the disaster, and the many other criminal acts performed.

For the shooting at, and attacks on, those who were trying to rescue us.

For our own stupidity.

For everything that happens to us from this day forward.

2

Be it known that the Federal Government owes the Refugees of the City of New Orleans a perfect life in every respect, regardless of our previous circumstances or lack of effort (past or present).

We deny any and all responsibility for the conditions that existed before Katrina, or for any future condition that we find ourselves in.

We hereby reserve the right to complain that – whatever we are given – it was not enough; and resolve to use that right immediately upon issuance of this document.

We further reserve the right, and guarantee its usage, that if we don’t get everything that we want from the Federal Government, it will be deemed a racist act, unless the affected party is white, in which case the act will be blamed on Republican Party of the Rich

Be it further resolved that any complaint or grievance not mentioned elsewhere in this document, shall be presumed to have been included by the mere mention of such complaint or grievance in any liberal news outlet (blogs included).

3

Any party who is similarly abused by government (or, in the unlikely event that a Democrat is in the White House, the Republican Party of the Rich) may change the location designated in this document.

Any party (Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, et al) may file this resolution on behalf of any other party (abused or not) for the purposes of promoting the image of America as a racist state.

Subsequent signators or issuers of this document may alter any of the grievances or demands herin containted but but MAY NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES make changes to the parties responsible (ie: Republican Administration, Republican Party of the Rich).

Polls are Bullshit

Poll question: Everyone with half a brain knows that the federal government was slow to respond to the Katrina disaster. Do you think the federal government was slow to respond to the Katrina disaster?

Polls are bullshit.

News is bullshit.

Of course the "majority" of Americans are "complaining" (when asked to complain) that the administration's response was slow and inadequate, or incompetent, or racist, or intentionally delayed, or whatever the pollster wants to "prove" that day.

Pollsters contact a pre-selected group of people. I have never been "polled" except at the mall about my travel preferences; nor has anyone that I know. The pollsters select a pre-defined group whom they know will give the answers that they seek. This group tends to watch network news as their sole source of information – and we all know exactly what that means. This group tends not to make any effort to find out the facts; does not care about the "truth"; and has no agenda of its own. So what it boils down to is that the majority of Americans (as defined above) are mindless idiots.

Having selected the group most likely to be "responsive", the Pollsters then craft a question in such a way that the desired "answer" will be recorded. "Do you (A) favor abortion in a safe and healthy environment; or (B) prefer that your daughter die from a back-alley coathanger operation performed by a homeless crack addict?"

MSM has contained nothing but blame for the administration, although sometimes they cover their asses by saying "government". Those propelling this argument know exactly who is to "blame" for the problems in New Orleans. They know exactly what the rules are when it comes to federal involvement in relief efforts. They know exactly where the breakdowns were. They know exactly how monumental and successful the federal bail-out of Louisianna’s immense failure was. But they don’t want the "majority of Americans" to know, because then they wouldn’t get the responses that they desire in their "polls".

This country is being reshaped and destroyed by the media. The internet has been given a great deal of credit for increasing our access to all sides of an issue and our general awareness. But those who use this access tend to be curious and skeptical by nature. They would have dug deeper anyway. They would have applied common sense and analysis before forming an opinion. And they are in the vast minority. So the internet, for all its potential, hasn’t changed the mentality of the "majority of Americans", who are too busy or too lazy to be interested and prefer to be spoon-fed. It has at best, increased the knowledge and power of those few of us who are interested in feeding ourselves.

Bush has nothing to lose

There is not one single thing that George W. Bush could do in this political climate, for which he would be given credit. The Liberals are absolutely insane with hatred, rather than face their own abject failures. Whatever President Bush does will be criticized. MSM will play along - hiding the facts, promoting the lies and the liars, and Bush's poll numbers will continue to "drop". It is a Tsunami of hatred that will last another three years.

It is the perfect situation for a determined president with an agenda. Bush need not spend a single moment considering the opposition's opinion - they are against it, whatever it is. They will try to stop it, whatever it is. And failing that, they will frame it in the worst possible light.

George Bush, literally, has nothing to lose - an unheard of circumstance for a politician, and he should take advantage of it.
